Digest.
Translucent structures are not just facades, but a broad class of architectural and construction systems, including:
façade glazing, window units in load-bearing glazing, curtain and structural stained-glass windows, skylights and glazed roofs, internal and external glass partitions, entrance areas with glazed vestibules, winter gardens and conservatories.
Despite the diversity of forms and functions, all these structures share one common feature: they are attached to the building's supporting elements via support brackets that support loads from their own weight, snow, temperature deformations, and dynamic impacts. The reliability of these connections directly depends on the correct selection of anchoring products.
Elementa EAZ and Cuttori CAP anchors are two complementary lines of steel expansion anchors designed to solve any type of SPK installation problem. Both have Technical Certificates from the Federal Autonomous Institution "Federal Center of Steel Construction" (FCS), approval from the V.A. Kucherenko Central Research Institute of Steel Structures (TsNIISK) for up to 9 points on the MSC-64 scale, are available in versions with increased corrosion resistance, have technical data sheets, and are supported in the Eiler calculation program in accordance with SP 513.1325800.2022.
Their use is rationally divided depending on the complexity of the task:
Cuttori CAP is a sufficient and cost-effective solution for typical installation tasks where conditions permit.
elementa EAZ is the solution for particularly critical components and tasks of the highest complexity, where maximum performance characteristics are required.
The key factors determining the choice between these solutions are discussed below.
1. Overall reliability and regulatory approval
Both anchors comply with the requirements of the current regulatory framework:
SP 513.1325800.2022 "Anchor fastenings to concrete. Design rules";
GOST R 71447–2024 "Anchor fastenings. Field testing method";
SP 28.13330.2017 "Protection of building structures from corrosion";
SP 267.1325800.2016 "High-rise buildings and complexes." Design Rules."
Both anchors are available in the following versions:
HARP (thermodiffusion coating) — for moderately aggressive and humid conditions;
HAST (zinc flake coating) — for moderately aggressive and humid conditions;
A4 (AISI 316) — high-molybdenum stainless steel for coastal and industrial areas, and high-rise buildings (over 75 m).
Furthermore, both anchors:
are approved by the Kucherenko Central Research Institute of Steel Structures (TsNIISK) for up to 9 points on the MSK-64 scale;
are included in the Eiler software database for automated calculations;
are subject to full-scale control testing in accordance with GOST R 71447–2024, with the issuance of a license certificate for the assessment.
Elementa EAZ-H and Cuttori CAP-HT anchor modifications received a positive assessment from NUST MISIS based on a 50-year study of the corrosion resistance and durability of HARP and HAST coatings.
Elementa EAZ and Cuttori CAP feature expansion sleeves made of grade A4 corrosion-resistant steel, ensuring exceptionally high resistance to failure of the fastening assembly under aggressive environments.
2. When Cuttori CAP is sufficient
The Cuttori CAP anchor is ideal for typical support bracket fastening assemblies when the following conditions are met:
The anchor is installed in the compressed zone of concrete (floor slab, building wall);
The building is no more than 75 m high (for modifications with CAP-HT coating);
The joint geometry allows for the maintenance of edge and center distances;
There is no risk of long-term exposure to chlorides or aggressive reagents (in such cases, CAP-A4 is preferred).
Under these conditions, the Cuttori CAP anchor provides complete reliability at a lower cost, making it a rational choice for most projects—from industrial buildings and structures to shopping centers and residential complexes.
3. When elementa EAZ required
The elementa EAZ anchor is used in complex and demanding situations where standard solutions are inadequate:
Working in the tension zone of concrete—for example, when fastening to the outer edge of a wall or the top surface of a cantilever;
High-rise buildings (>75 m)—where SP 267.1325800.2016 only permits EAZ-A4;
Constrained spaces—façade corners, proximity to the edge of a slab, narrow bracket base plates (due to minimal edge and center distances);
Group fastening—when several anchors are located close to each other, and it is important to minimize mutual influence (the uniform expansion of the EAZ reduces the group effect);
Increased durability requirements—even for buildings ≤75 m tall, if the facility is located in coastal or industrial areas.
The elementa EAZ anchor is made of grade 8.8 steel, ensuring high load-bearing capacity under shear and bending loads. This is especially important in eccentric joints or under combined loading, where the anchor experiences not only pull-out but also significant shear forces.
A particular advantage of the elementa EAZ anchor is its high stability in full-scale tests according to GOST R 71447–2024. The low spread of failure loads ensures highly predictable anchor behavior in the underlying foundation, confirming the reliability of calculated values and facilitating the coordination of design solutions.
In these cases, the EAZ becomes an essential solution, providing maximum reliability and design flexibility—especially for architecturally complex, highly sensitive, or highly sensitive facilities.
